Bennett Steel, Inc. was founded in 1980 and was incorporated (in the state of Oklahoma) on October 6, 1980. The office was originally located in Okmulgee, OK but in March of 1981 we moved it to Sapulpa, OK. This move was made to better serve the Liberty Glass Company (our largest customer at that time now known as Verallia).
In 1984 our office moved again to its present location, also in 1984 we incorporated the fabrication division as its own company, Bennett Steel Fabrication, Inc. (RTB, Inc.). At that time we had 15 full time employees and owned two cranes.
Our first full time and full service fabrication shop started in January of 1986 with four full time employees. Then on January 1, 2000, we made the business decision to separate the operations of the two businesses and even though the operations are separate, the coordination and communication between them is better because of this operational separation.
Depending on local market forces and our workload at any given time, there are anywhere from 100 to 200 employees working full time for both companies. We are extremely proud of the fact that we provide local careers for area residents and that our company is able to help elevate the standard of living for not only our employees but also the larger community of North East Oklahoma.
